Powerful, stylish, and an absolutely brilliant display are three ways to describe the HP iPAQ hx4705. The high-contrast display combined with the powerful processor inside provide for a remarkable handheld for anyone on the go.

Although the hx4705 is smaller than its predecessor, it is still somewhat large compared to other handhelds. Despite this fact, the hx4705 is still very mobile friendly. Contributing to the size of the hx4705 is a beautiful 4-inch display. When you look at all of the features packed into the hx4705, the size is quite remarkable.

The hx4705 ships preloaded with Windows Mobile 2003, which includes support for handwriting recognition—a must for those who don't want to learn a different style of writing. The power button is located on the top spine of the hx4705 and is flush with the device. This location does exactly what it is intended to do; it makes it more difficult to power on the device, accidentally or intentionally.

The hx4705 is easy to use and navigate with its handy touchpad and application buttons. The touchpad replaces the traditional four-way navigation button and functions similar to a touchpad on a laptop. There were a few occasions where the touchpad wasn't responsive. To correct this, all I had to do was turn the device off and back on again.

The most impressive feature of the hx4705 is its colorful display. The hx4705 has the ability to display in both portrait and landscape mode. The display is easy to read under both incandescent and fluorescent lighting, but hard to read outdoors under bright sunlight.

The hx4705 comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack and lots of great software including
Microsoft Outlook 2002, Microsoft Reader eBooks, Clearvue Suite (for viewing PowerPoint and PDF files), Adobe PDF Viewer, Flash Player, and many others. The fast processor of the hx4705 has no problem loading applications and performing tasks very quickly.

I loved working with the hx4705. It is easy to use, and I like the amazing display. Despite a few minor drawbacks (such as the usability of the power button), this is a great device for personal and professional uses.
