New 30-inch HP monitor wows the HotHardware crew.
Yep, $1,300 is a lot of scratch to throw at a monitor, but the HotHardware.com posse are thoroughly impressed. In fact, they nearly ran out of superlatives in describing the ZR30W’s performance; the sole nit they could find to pick was that the monitor only sports DisplayPort and DVI connectors, characterizing the unit’s lack of an HDMI connector as “egregious.”

Revenge of the Cookie.
It’s been roughly 15 years since the panic over browser cookies reached a fever pitch. Well, hold on to your tinfoil hats, folks, because cookies have been thrust into the limelight once again. And this time, these aren’t your garden-variety cookies. These are zombie cookies. These George Romero-inspired cookies are the brainchild of Quantcast and the center of a new lawsuit in U.S. District Court. RIM planning to reveal “iPhone killer” next Tuesday.
Haven’t we been down this road before (several times)? Anyway, if you care, those who are paid to analyze have indeed analyzed, and the smart money is on a 9800 announcement next week.

Sprint Nextel actually gains subscribers.
It’s no secret that mobile provider Sprint Nextel has had some troubles the last few years, but this stat is still pretty dramatic: the company reports that for its most recent fiscal quarter, it achieved the first net gain in subscribers it has experienced in three years. This AP story tosses lots of other numbers at you, and provides some chatter about what Sprint’s done to improve, but here is the salient point: “Sprint CEO Dan Hesse said the company had some help from the launch of its first “4G” phone, the HTC EVO . . .” Hmm, ya think?
